What's good to know
A gift agreement for a property can only be concluded in writing. It must precisely identify the property being transferred according to its entry in the Land Register, as well as the contracting parties themselves. A professionally prepared gift agreement also includes the donor's declaration about the legal and factual condition of the property and an arrangement for handing the property over to the donee. The contract very often also contains an easement of free lifelong use for the donor, which ensures that the donor can continue to live in the property even though the donee has become its owner.
For the registration proceedings to run smoothly, the signatures of all parties on the gift agreement must be officially verified. Verification can be done at a notary, an attorney, or at a Czech POINT counter (found at Czech Post branches or municipal offices). Signatures are not verified on the registration application.
